I've reported about this book earlier last year. Also from Bjarne Stroustrup: “Within C++, there is a much smaller and cleaner language struggling to get out”. A good place to start would be a general purpose programming language book. Here is a really good introduction to C++, written by the original designer of C++. Programming principles and practice using C++ / Bjarne Stroustrup, Addison-Wesley, 2009. One more vote for Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++. An Introduction to Programming by the Inventor of C++ Preparation for Programming in the Real World The book assumes that you aim eventually to write. The original release-date was slated for august last year, but it seems it was delayed till last month. They way I am learning C++ is just reading through a book and learning how to code; the book that I am using the Programming principles and practices using c++ made by the c++ creator himself. Just started reading this book by none other than Stroustrup, the father of C++. C++ or Java would be good (I particularly like "Programming Principles and Practice Using C++" by Bjarne Stroustrup). Good C++ books - posted in C and C++: Hello Guys new here sorry if iI posting on the wrong forum dont give me a infraction like a warning please. After you finish it (and by finishing I mean learn it and do all the drills and exercises), I highly recommend The C++ Standard Library by Nicolai Josuttis. Bjarne's new book: Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++. Also from Bjarne Stroustrup: “Programming — Principles and Practice Using C++”. At 1200 pages, it will keep you busy for a while. (how do you pronounce his name?!). Seems like this is a very practical book.
